A new B2B online credit service for small and midsize companies. MSTS, a provider of cloud-based B2B payment services, has launched a credit-as-a-service that small and mid-sized companies can offer their online customers.
 
The credit-as-a-service, or CaaS, uses a system of software connections with multiple data sources, including credit-rating agencies and the Dun & Bradstreet database of private companies, to determine within a minute whether a prospective buyer has a legitimate identification and is creditworthy for particular credit levels, says Brandon Spear, president of MSTS.
 
Oracle loses challenge to Pentagon cloud battle over Amazon’s role. The Government Accountability Office dismissed Oracle’s argument that the Pentagon’s winner-take-all contract bidding violates procurement standards and unfairly favors Amazon Web Services. The GAO’s decision came despite months of lobbying by Oracle, IBM and Microsoft.

E‑commerce accounts for an estimated 13.5% of US retail sales in the third quarter. U.S. online retailers generated $121.460 billion on the web in the third quarter, a 14.3% increase compared with $106.241 billion in Q3 2017, the Department of Commerce reported.
 
This is a slightly lower growth rate than e-commerce for 2017 as a whole, when U.S. online sales rose 15.6% to reach $449.99 billion in 2017, compared with $389.11 billion in 2016. It’s also a slightly lower growth rate than the second quarter, when online sales from U.S. merchants grew 15.4%.
